Is there any hope?
There sure is! Even when our lives are turned upside down and we are facing a mountain of trouble, there is hope. That hope is found in one person alone - the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is the solution to every problem, he is the answer to every prayer, he is the anchor in the midst of the storm, he is the only hope when life looks hopeless. The most significant decision that you will ever make in this life will be whether you follow Jesus Christ or not. There is no other decision that has eternal consequences.   As a person, God created you to live for eternity.  Our time on planet earth is just a tiny fraction of our entire life. The information below explains how and why you should follow Jesus Christ.

Who is God?
God is the universe's creator and sustainer (Gen. 1:1) - there is no one greater.  He is holy (1 Pet. 1:16), righteous, loving.  He is also the ultimate judge of the world and with perfect justice will determine the eternal outcome of every person.

Who am I?
I am created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27).  I was also created by God in my mother's womb but as I grew and even before I entered this world I had been completely infected by sin - so by nature, I was born a sinner (Eph. 2:1-5).  Therefore, the Bible accurately describes me as a sinner and having fallen short of all of God's standards (Rom. 3:23). I need to be rescued from this position as I don't have the power to overcome my own sin.

Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the perfect man because he is at the same time fully God (John 1:1).  He willingly left the glory of heaven to become a servant-man in order to die and take the punishment for the sins of the world (Php. 2:5-72 Cor. 5:21). Jesus is the only one who can rescue man from his sin (John 14:6).  Even though he was crucified on a Roman cross and bore the wrath of God for all mankinds sin, he rose again victoriously to show that he has the power over sin, death and Satan. He is currently at the right hand of God in heaven preparing a place for all those who follow him (John 14:1-6).

How do I become a Christian?
To become a follower of Christ will, on the one hand, cost you nothing because it is a free gift from God (Eph. 2:8-9), but on the other hand, it will cost you everything because every true follower of Jesus must surrender everything to follow him.  To follow Jesus, you must believe that Jesus lived, died, rose again and ascended to heaven for you and you must confess him as your only Lord and Saviour (Rom. 10:9-10).  This involves turning (repenting) from your sin (Acts 17:30) and choosing to follow Christ as your only Master.

What should I do after I become a Christian?
The one and only option for you once you become a Christian is to obey Jesus Christ your Lord.  His desire for you is that you would worship him in every part of your life.  The best way to do is to join a church that exalts Jesus Christ and upholds his Word - the Bible.  Your whole life is to be an act of worship to God (Romans 12:1-2), but it is essential to meet together with other Christians to collectively worship God - we call this church.   As an act of worship, you will want to work alongside other Christians in the church using the special gifts and talents that God has given you to help the other Christians grow stronger and more mature. God has designed the church to build each other up.  It's important that you fulfil this responsibility as that will help your faith to grow stronger and stronger.  Finally, as a follower of Jesus Christ, we are called to share our faith with others so they too can experience the joy of forgiven sins and the hope of eternal life in heaven.  We call this witnessing or evangelism.  This is another fantastic way to strengthen our faith and to exercise our love for mankind.

I hope this has been a great help to you.   If you need someone to talk to about this important subject please contact our pastor or chat with one of the Christians on our Outreach Team.

May God bless you abundantly.
